PARIS

While the aircraft was flying over the German and Belgian territory, Gorbatsjov was also in the air heading towards Paris for an official visit. Once he was in Paris, he learns about the crash of MiG-23 in Belgium. The next day in an interview he explains:

"We have provided our condoleances to the Belgian goverment and the victims of this crash. These accident can never be ruled out completely, but we try to avoid them at all costs."
