A few days after the crash, a Soviet delegation arrives at Brussels airport. They are here to visit the site of the crash. They are also asked by Moscow to talk about reimbursing the victims and to recover the wreckage of the aircraft, as it was part of a new prototype variant of the MiG-23 attack aircraft.

A few days later, a Soviet transport aircraft arrives to retrieve the MiG wrekage. However, it takes a while until they are able to recieve the aircraft, and so the aircraft spends a few days on the tarmac of the airfield.
